All visitors, including U.S. citizens, must obtain an e-visa before traveling to Bhutan. The visa fee is USD 40 per person per trip. However, Indian citizens are exempt from this requirement.
For those arriving by air, the visa is stamped at the immigration desk of Paro International Airport. Travelers entering by road from Phuentsholing will receive their visa at the border immigration office. Entry via Gelephu and Samdrup Jongkhar is temporarily suspended.
The Department of Immigration in Thimphu is the sole authority for issuing e-visas. Your Bhutanese travel representative will apply on your behalf. Once approved, the e-visa will be emailed to you. You must present this document at the Drukair/Bhutan Airlines check-in counter before boarding your flight.
To book your Bhutan trip with a local tour operator such as Wanderlust Travel, the first step is to select your preferred itinerary.
Once you have decided on your tour, the next step is to make the payment. You will need to wire transfer the full payment to the account of the tour operator in Bhutan. After completing the payment, be sure to send a copy of the wire transfer receipt to the operator as proof of payment.

Your Bhutan travel agency / tour operator will process the visa on your behalf which normally takes 2-3 working days. The local tour operator will send you the e-visa when it is approved. You are now eligible to visit Bhutan.
