Honeymoon Tour - Detail Itinerary.

Day 01. Arrive Paro & sightseeing | Altitude: 2280 m

Upon arrival, your guide will welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel.

In the afternoon, visit Ta Dzong, Bhutan’s National Museum, housed in a unique conch-shaped building with 2.5-meter-thick walls. Then, explore Rinpung Dzong, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. This masterpiece of Bhutanese architecture was even featured in the 1995 film Little Buddha.

In the evening, enjoy free time to stroll through the town, capturing photographs and shopping for local handicrafts.

In the morning, drive to Satsam Chorten and embark on a hike to the iconic Paro Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest) Monastery, a two-hour ascent offering breathtaking views. This is one of the most romantic highlights of a honeymoon tour in Bhutan.

In the afternoon, visit Kichu Monastery, built in 659 AD by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo, followed by Drugyal Dzong, constructed in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal.

Make a short stop to admire Tamchog Monastery, built in the 15th century by the legendary iron bridge builder Thangtong Gyalpo.

In the morning, start your day in Thimphu with a visit to the National Postal Museum, where you can learn about Bhutan’s unique philatelic history. Continue to the Painting School (Zorig Chusum Institute) to witness traditional Bhutanese art being taught and practiced. Explore the lively Craft Bazaar, showcasing authentic local handicrafts, and enjoy some free time strolling through the town, perfect for photography.

Afterward, drive to Paro and begin your afternoon with a visit to the Ta Dzong, Bhutan’s National Museum, followed by the impressive Rinpung Dzong, a historic fortress and monastery. End the afternoon with a visit to a traditional Bhutanese farmhouse, offering a glimpse into the rural lifestyle and culture. In the evening, enjoy free time exploring Paro town, ideal for shopping and photography. Conclude the day with dinner and an overnight stay at your hotel.

In the morning, visit Changangkha Temple, perched on a hilltop overlooking the valley, where pilgrims constantly offer prayers. Then, visit the Takin Preserve Center to see Bhutan’s national animal, believed to have been created by Drukpa Kuenley in the 15th century.

Next, visit Sangaygang Viewpoint for panoramic views of Thimphu, followed by a stop at Dupthop Nunnery.

After lunch, drive to Punakha, stopping at the breathtaking Dochu La Pass (3,140 m).

Later, hike to Chimi Lhakhang, the famous “Temple of Fertility,” built in honor of the Divine Madman, Drukpa Kuenley.

In the morning, take a walk across Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge (160 m) over the Pho Chu River, offering spectacular views of Punakha Valley and the dzong below.

Next, visit Punakha Dzong, built in 1637 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It is said that the design of the dzong came to the architect in a dream, and, in true tradition, no nails were used in its construction. Punakha served as the ancient capital of Bhutan until the reign of the second king.

In the afternoon, hike to the beautiful Khamsum Yulley Monastery, built by Her Majesty Queen Tshering Yangdon Wangchuck.

In the morning, drive to Gangtey and Phobjikha Valley, renowned as the winter roosting ground for the rare black-necked cranes.

On the way, stop to view Wangdue Phodrang Dzong, built in 1638 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Unfortunately, the dzong was destroyed by fire in 2012, but repairs were completed in 2022.

Next, visit Gangtey Gompa Monastery, founded in 1613 by Tenzin Legpai Dhendup, and the largest Nyingmapa school in western Bhutan.

Visit the Crane Information Center before spending the evening exploring the stunning Phobjikha Valley (altitude 3000 m).

In the morning, drive to Bumthang, considered the “Switzerland of Bhutan”. This valley is the spiritual and cultural heartland of Bhutan.

Visit Trongsa dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan built in 1543 by Nagi Wangchuk. The first two kings of Bhutan ruled the country from this ancient seat. The ancient rulers of Bhutan controlled the trade between eastern and western Bhutan from here.

Then visit Ta dzong, an ancient watch tower which is now converted to the royal heritage museum.

In the morning, visit the Tamshing Lhakhang, Kurjey Monastery, Kenchosum Monastery, and Jakar Dzong, known as the “Castle of the White Bird.”

In the afternoon, drive to the “Burning Lake” (Mebar Tsho), an important pilgrimage site. Then, visit Jambay Lhakhang, built in 659 AD by King Srongtsen Gampo of Tibet. A spectacular festival is held here every winter to honor Guru Rinpoche, with the “naked dance” being the main highlight.

Finally, visit Chakhar Lhakhang, the palace of Sindhu Raja, built in the 8th century. It was here that Guru Rinpoche arrived in Bhutan at Sindhu Raja’s invitation.

In the morning, drive to the airport and fly to Paro. Your guide will receive you at the airport and drive you to the hotel.

In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic day tour to Cheli La Pass (3988 m), which offers breathtaking views. This pass is the highest motorable road in Bhutan and forms a natural divide between Paro and Haa valleys. You can also hike to the sky burial site and take in views of the majestic Mt. Jomolhari.

On the way back, visit Kila Gompa Nunnery, perched on a cliff at 3500 m. This serene nunnery houses around 70-80 nuns and serves as a retreat center.
